Mint Snowball

In Mint Snowball Naomi Shihab Nye uses sentence fragments throughout her essay to describe certain things. Especially in the first two paragraph. I feel like the reason why she uses these fragments is to set a sort of immature or innocent mood towards the time her great grandfather was making his mint ice cream. She puts a picture in your mind of a time where there was no worry about anything. Just pure potential and ignorance. No one here is trying to correct anything. They are just living their life and a happy way. As she wraps up what has happened to the Snowball Mint recipe she changes her mood from this innocent kind of feeling to a feeling of being scared and lost. She compares the lost recipe to her self. Not feeling in place in this world. Feeling that she should be used in a different manner than she is right now. She says she knows how to do things yet she is angry and unsatisfied over a lot of things. She wants to find meaning in another place and wonders if it is ever possible.
